Director Story

Priya Goswami (b. 1988, India) is a national award-winning documentary filmmaker, ethical technologist, and media maker. She is the co-creator, creative head, and CEO of Mumkin: Making Difficult Conversations Possible, an AI-driven app for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), available on Google Play Store. Her work in ethical technology is rooted in over thirteen years of advocacy against GBV, sparked by her acclaimed documentary A Pinch of Skin (2013), which won the 60th National Film Award of India and has been screened worldwide.

Priya co-founded Sahiyo, an international non-profit, in 2015 and was a recipient of the German Chancellor Fellowship (2018-19) by the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung. She spent this time in Berlin creating video installations, learning German, and collaborating with activists in Germany, Ireland, and Malta on pro-choice advocacy. She is currently part of the Mozilla Tech + Society cohort (2024-26).

Her ongoing documentary Baadi has been in development since 2017 and was one of the four non-European projects selected for the European Social Documentary Workshop. She also received an IAWRT grant for Reflecting Her, a four-country feature film collaboration.

Priya believes in the power of storytelling to spark critical conversations and continues to explore innovative mediums at the intersection of film, advocacy, and technology.
