An Ode To the Saree is a reminiscence by the first lady student of FTII, Parvati Menon(Nayar),who specialized in Advance Direction, to take on her professional challenges clad in a sari. Till then Direction was a Man’s Job!! Her then principal’s wife, the nonagenarian Mrs Murari recalls the Institute’s reaction on welcoming its First Female student. This short video is a stout confirmation that Saree, the heritage women’s wear of India, is no impediment in any profession.
Director’s Bio: Parvati Menon focused on making films for young audiences, particularly Youth. She was the Chief Producer and CEO of the Children’s Film Society, India, under the IB ministry. She has been on many juries. She is also an author and Film Activist.
