Director Story

Meera Krishnan is a filmmaker, producer and translator based in Mumbai. After having completed her education from JNU, New Delhi in French & Francophone studies with a focus on cinema, she  currently works as the deputy attaché of the audiovisual  and cinema sector in the French Institute in India – the cultural wing of the French Embassy in India.

She also runs a production company wherein she translates and makes subtitles for films. So far she has subtitled two internationally acclaimed projects – The elephant whisperers (Academy Award for Best short documentary 2023) and Cactus Pears (Sundance grand jury prize 2025). As a producer and writer, she has made two short films – ‘How was the date?’ and ’44’. Her directorial short, ’44’ was in competition at IDSFFK, Trivandrum in 2022. Both the films have travelled across several festivals in India. Apart from that, she has also worked on ad films, TVCs and other projects in the past. Currently she is working on a long term personal documentary project.
