Filmmaker Koel Sen’s coming of age of documentary, 2S-33 C-BLOCK, Boys Hostel, Girls Floor is a personal film made solely using mobile phone footage as personal archives shot during her time as a film-student at the Film and Television Institute of India. The film follows Koel’s life as one of the few women students on the FTII Campus with a batch of predominantly male students. Through the journey of this film Koel revisits the beginning of her filmic practice and the process of arriving at her diploma film project.

Director’s Bio: Koel Sen is a filmmaker and artist based out of Mumbai, India. Alumnus of the Film & Television Institute of India and La Fémis, Paris, her short-fiction ‘Valay’, premiered at the IDSFFK Kerala and went on to be screened at numerous film festivals. Her short-documentary ‘Bahava’ won the Emerging Talent Award at the IAWRT, Philippines and was screened at the Grenoble Indian Film Festival 2021 among others. Selected as Berlinale Talent 2023, Koel developed her feature length documentary project, “In the Light of Darkness” at their Doc Station. She was recently awarded the Macenia Grant for women artists in Frankfurt for the same project. Koel was artist-in-residence at the Akademie der Künste der Welt Cologne in 2022.
